Where do you fall on the multigenerational workforce chart?

There are now five generations in the workforce simultaneously (Gen Z, millennials, Gen X, baby boomers, and some members of the silent generation still working in their late 70s and early 80s) – a first in modern history. Let’s talk about it!

Let’s assume to give some focus all readers here are older workers. (GenX and up)

What is a multigenerational workforce?

Seriously we could have teams that span multiple generations – possibly even 4 different age groups.

What is the best way to deal with conflict within a multigenerational workforce?

This should be managed the same way no matter the generation. Folks should feel heard and respected. Everyone has something to contribute. Laughter always helps too. Maybe consider an “Office Comedy Roast” session, where each generation takes turns poking fun at their own quirks and stereotypes.

So tired of the “who had it harder” discussion. Can we just stop?

Agreed – each generation has different challenges. A little empathy and respect go a long way. Hoping that as we work together more frequently this will slowly go away.
